Sage is a traditional medicinal plant of the Mediterranean region known for its healing properties to which her name greatly testifies – «salvus» means to be saved, healthy. Beacause of its great benefits for the health the Romans have called it «the sacred herb».
The essential oil is obtained by steam distillation of the aereal part of the plant. It is necessary around 50 kg of plant material to produce 1 kg of essential oil.Sage is a traditional medicinal and spice plant that has been present in folk medicine for centuries. Its most common application is in oral hygiene.

Sage is a neurotoxic oil, extreme caution is needed in dosing. It is not suitable to use during pregnancy, nursing, for babies and children.
