Orange is a plant originating from China, where it has been cultivated for over 2000 years. Oranges came to Europe by way of Portugal, but not before the 16th century. Sweet orange essential oil is obtained by pressing the fruit peel and it has refreshing citrous aroma. 2000 oranges are needed to produce 1 kg of essential oil.
Orange essential oil has stimulating effect and is thus used traditionally for treating anxiety, depression, fears, insomnia and nervousness. It softens the skin, stimulates the function of lymphatic system and is thus a useful component of blends used in treating cellulite. Because of its refreshing scent, it is a favorite component of skin care emulsions
